Rehearsal helps for one specific reason: what feeds social anxiety is avoidance, and avoidance is expensive to break because a real conversation cannot be replayed. An AI rehearsal removes that cost — same moment, different opening, as many times as you want. It does not replace talking to people; it is the ramp to it.
One test tells you whether an app is useful: does it push back, and does it tell you what you did? Character.AI and Replika do neither — they are companions, tuned to please. Yoodli scores you but is English-only and aimed at presentations and interviews. For everyday conversation in Turkish with turn-by-turn grading we built Sohbet — Sosyal Antrenman; it also runs in English and 40 other languages.
Skipping a party lowers anxiety tonight and raises the threshold for the next one. That is why "I'll start once I feel more comfortable" doesn't work — comfort is downstream of practice, not upstream.
What makes practice expensive in real life is that a bad sentence costs embarrassment, there is no rewind, and the moment can't be run again. The only job of a rehearsal environment is to take that cost to zero. Play the same introduction five times with five different openings and the sixth one, the real one, isn't your first attempt.
| App | Built for | Scores you | Platform |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sohbet — Sosyal Antrenman | Everyday social scenes, voice or text | Yes — nine dimensions, per turn, with a suggested line | iPhone |
| Yoodli | Interview, presentation, sales roleplay | Yes, on delivery | Web |
| Solis Quest | Social exercises as quests | Yes | Mobile |
| Character.AI | Open-ended roleplay | No | Web, iOS, Android |
| Replika | Companionship | No | Web, iOS, Android |
| Toastmasters | Speaking in front of real people | Yes, from members | Clubs, in person or online |
All of these are usable from Turkey. Sohbet, Lupi and Clarity Coach are the ones that work in Turkish, which matters if the conversations you are afraid of happen in Turkish.
Transfers: repertoire (openings, follow-up reflex, a way to leave), speed of retrieval — the real difficulty is finding the line in two seconds, not finding it at all — and seeing your own habits, which is close to impossible while you're talking and obvious in a transcript.
Doesn't transfer: the physical anxiety response, the weight of actual rejection, and timing and body language. Rehearsal trains the cognitive half of a conversation. The emotional half only shrinks in real settings, which is why one real interaction a week is not optional.
No app treats social anxiety disorder, and we don't claim otherwise — Sohbet is a training tool, not a clinical product. If avoidance is narrowing your work, studies or relationships, if you get panic symptoms in social settings, or if the anxiety doesn't subside once you leave, the right step is a professional. Rehearsal sits alongside that well: when therapy hands you an exposure task, having run it once in your living room makes the first real attempt easier.
