Replika is built to be a companion, and companionship and honesty pull in opposite directions: an app designed to make you feel good will not tell you that your last three questions were closed and that the other person had stopped listening. Character.AI has the same shape.
Apps that do give feedback: Sohbet — Sosyal Antrenman (everyday conversation, nine dimensions scored per turn, Turkish and 40 more languages), Yoodli (interviews, presentations, sales — English), Solis Quest (social exercises — English), and Turkish-built Lupi and Clarity Coach. For feedback from real humans, Toastmasters.
Replika's product goal is a relationship that continues. That single fact produces four consequences, all of which are wrong for practice:
| App | What you get | Language | Pricing model |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sohbet — Sosyal Antrenman | 16 everyday scenes, a partner who can lose interest and leave, nine scored dimensions per turn, voice mode | Turkish + 40 | Two conversations free, then monthly |
| Yoodli | Roleplay plus detailed delivery feedback | English | Free starter sessions, then monthly |
| Solis Quest | Quest-based social exercises with feedback | English | Subscription |
| Lupi | Social and relationship coaching | Turkish | Subscription |
| Clarity Coach | Communication and conversation drills | Turkish / English | Subscription |
| Character.AI | Roleplay only — same category as Replika, no scoring | Multilingual model | Free tier + subscription |
| Toastmasters | Spoken feedback from real people | Clubs in many languages | Membership dues |
Note that Character.AI is not an alternative to Replika in this sense — it is another member of the same category. The difference between them is that Replika maintains one continuous relationship; neither measures how you converse.
They aren't mutually exclusive and they answer different needs. Loneliness is a real problem and a companion app is an honest answer to it. Wanting to get better at talking to people is a different problem, and it needs something that is willing to tell you that the conversation went badly. Using one for each is a reasonable arrangement; expecting one product to do both is what leaves people disappointed.
Pricing across all of these is on the pricing page.
